Types of Pools

Freeform Pool

A freeform pool is a lagoon style pool or naturalistic pool. It usually has have rock features and is built to mimic a oasis. Freeform pools have been popular in the Phoenix area and throughout the country for many years.

Lap Pool

Lap pools are typically narrow and long, usually over 50', to facilitate exercise and swimming for health and fitness.

Negative Edge Pool

Negative edge pools are getting more common and require an expert to build. They are also referred to as infinity swimming pools or infinity egde pools. These are designed to look like the pool extends all the way out to the horizon. The mechanics and engineering of infinity pools cannot be compromised.

Spools and Spas

The word spool is a combination of a spa and a pool. Spools are typically oversized spas somewhere around 12' X 14'. Unfortunately, due to construction issues, spools are not necessarily less expensive than an average swimming pool. They might be easier to maintain due to the smaller size, and a spool certainly might be an option for someone with a very small yard.

Manmade Rock

Man made rock can be beautiful or it can look like a Fred Flintstone creation. The advantage of manmade rock is the boulders can be carved to look much larger than real rock boulders, without the weight. Manmade rock starts with the gunite or shotcrete pool structure for a pad, then normally a second shotcrete crew comes out to shoot concrete over forms of rebar and chicken wire, they cut groves in the shape of boulders, and use large stamp materials to give the texture of real boulders. The final step is to paint the rocks to look real. Manmade structures can be expensive, but unlimited in designs, caves, and grottos, built in slides, accent boulders, anything you want.

Commercial or Public Pools

A commercial or public pool or spa may be defined as one that is used by the public, may they be members of club or any residential establishment or communities and schools. Particular equipment, design, and maintenance standards are mandatory for commercial pools.
